New York Giants Receiving Corps Ranked No. 4 in NFL

Chris Wesseling of NFL.com was inspired to rank the “NFL’s Top 10 Receiving Corps” after Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stevie Johnson proclaimed his team had the league’s best. In his rankings, Wesseling had the New York Giants in the top five — at number four, to exact. Johnson’s Bills failed to make it.

The Giants ranked fourth, one spot behind rival Dallas Cowboys who boast a unit including Dez Bryant, Miles Austin, Dwayne Harris, Terrance Williams, Jason Witten, James Hanna and Gavin Escobar.

“Bryant took advantage of a soft schedule and a bevy of shootouts down the stretch, but it’s still impressive that his final eight games project to 1,758 yards and 20 touchdowns across a full season. He’s here to stay as a No. 1 receiver. Austin can be one of the league’s top second fiddles as long as he can put his hamstring issues behind him. Witten hasn’t missed a game in nine years.”

Is the Cowboys receiving corps better than the New York Giants though who when healthy have Hakeem Nicks, Victor Cruz, Reuben Randle, Louis Murphy and Brandon Myers?

“When healthy, Nicks is one of only a dozen NFL wide receivers capable of drawing and beating double coverage. Cruz is the only player in the NFL with at least 80 receptions, 1,000 yards and nine touchdowns in each of the past two seasons. Randle should be an upgrade on Domenik Hixon in the third receiver role.”

The number one ranked team is the Atlanta Falcons who have an impressive trio including Julio Jones, Roddy White and Tony Gonzalez. Behind them is the Denver Broncos who added Wes Welker to an already impressive unit including Demaryius Thomas, Eric Decker, Jacob Tamme and Joel Dreessen.

The rest of the top ten included 5. Green Bay Packers, 6. New Orleans Saints, 7. Seattle Seahawks, 8. Arizona Cardinals, 9. Indianapolis Colts and 10. Philadelphia Eagles.
